If you don't have a social work diploma from an Alberta school with a UCalgary transfer agreement, then you'll be applying as a University Transfer student. This includes students with social work diplomas from outside Alberta.
Online or in-class?
If you want to stay in your home community, our Virtual Learning Circle is a great option. If you'd rather have in-class learning, you'll be looking at our campus-based programs in Calgary, Edmonton or Lethbridge.
No previous social work education?
If you haven't taken any social work courses before, you'll be required to take our introductory class: Social Work 201.
"I have an Alberta Social Work Diploma."
You'll apply as an Alberta Social Work diploma applicant, if you have a diploma from a school that has a UCalgary transfer agreement.
"I have a social work diploma from a school outside Alberta."
You'll apply as a University transfer student. Normally you'll need an additional 30 units of university transferable non-social work courses.
"I'm a high school student."
Unfortunately you can't apply to the faculty directly from high school, but we have some suggestions for your first two years of university.
