Biography
Stephanie Grant (she/her/hers) is a field educator with the Faculty of Social Work. Her social work practice is based in community development work, including experiences with facilitating mental health prevention, community economic development and social inclusion strategies with marginalized communities. Her focus on relationship building amongst diverse community partners grounds her work in social work education.
Stephanie completed her MSW at York University and comes to field education with diverse social work experience. Stephanie has worked with the non profit sector, supporting youth in remote Indigenous communities. She continued her work with youth focusing on campus wide mental health strategies at the University of Alberta. More recently she expanded her role to that of community social worker with the City of Calgary addressing social inclusion and community economic development with vulnerable Calgarians.
Education Philosophy Statement:
As a Field Educator with the Office of Field Education, Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary, I am committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for social work students, field education community partners and field instructors. I am also dedicated to increasing practicum placement capacity provincially and nationally while establishing placements that meet the needs of our diverse student population. I work from an anti-oppressive, anti-racist and trauma-informed lens, with a focus on creating positive and transformational learning experiences for all students. I am committed to upholding social ork values where my practice framework in field education is grounded in respect, integrity, equity and collaboration.
