Money Smart’s new financial literacy training
Whether you’re an undergraduate or a graduate student, the training is aimed at helping you learn more about managing your finances.
The program consists of four core modules. In module 1, you’ll learn the ins and outs of budgeting and cash flows. During this module, you’ll find out why you should prepare a budget, how and why you should set financial goals, and how to tell the difference between wants and needs.
Savings and the time value of money are the main topics in module 2. You’ll learn about savings and investment, and the options available for each, as well as the value of money at different points in time.
Module 3 is about the basics of credit. You’ll learn about types of credit, lending institutions, the terminology associated with credit, and different types of loans.
The final module covers debt management. You’ll learn how to manage your debt, good debt versus bad debt, debt repayment and what your options are if your debt becomes overwhelming.
At the end of the training, you’ll receive digital credentials (a badge) for your LinkedIn profile.
With these four modules, you’ll improve your understanding and application of personal finance strategies to better manage their budgets, cash flows, credit, savings and debt. Stay tuned for the next phase of the Get Money Smart training next year.
