About the Program

On Campus and Online

Offered at the University of Calgary’s main campus, this is a full-time program from start to finish.

In your first two years, you’ll attend classes on campus that focus on building a strong academic foundation, with most courses taken outside of social work.

In your final two years, you’ll move into social work-focused courses delivered in a blended format. You’ll also complete a practicum in each of your final two years, gaining hands-on supervised experience in real-world social work settings.

Schedule

You'll begin your studies in the Fall semester. You will follow the UCalgary academic calendar. All social work courses will be scheduled in three-hour blocks, with live online classes held at set times in the Mountain Time (MT) zone.

Get ready for practice

Field education remains at the heart of social work education, and your practicum will be completed in-person.

Through practicum you'll have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills required for professional social work practice and engage in supervision. See your route specific practicum schedule for more detail.

Our field education team is dedicated to supporting you through your practicum journey.
